This iconic accessory was made famous by the outdoor markets in the Provence region of France.  Our Marian Market Basket is handwoven from date palm leaves with short, thick, leather handles, plus a longer handle strap for shoulder carrying ease!

Sturdy, light, and fashionable for every occasion, our basket works perfectly at the beach, at the farmer’s market, for a quick run to the grocery store, or to masquerade as a catch-all diaper bag that looks nothing of the sort. 

Each of our Marian Market Baskets is accessorized by a custom designed Marian scarf. The long handle design includes our Mater Dolorosa: Lady of Sorrows French blue and white scarf. This stylish accessory can be worn as a bandana, headband, ponytail, neck scarf, or to accessorize your new favorite market basket. 

The theology behind the scarf design: sometimes described as ‘the flower of grief’, the marigold actually weeps on occasion. Named after the Blessed Mother, droplets gather during the night in this delicate flower and drip off like tears when it opens in the morning. Because grief is always mixed with joy, for Our Lady and for all mothers, this scarf is a symbol of hope and healing for women everywhere.
